Meet the Allen's

Mason Allen started his first business at the age of twelve selling hand-made fishing tackle. A few years later, he started work on the Morehead City waterfront. From washing boats to crewing commercial fishing trips, Mason's love for the water continued to grow. During the cold seasons when things would slow down, young Mason would tong for wild oysters for extra money which got him researching the oyster growing process, and that's all it took for him to decide what he wanted to do next. At the age of sixteen, with the support of his parents, Chris and Allyson, Mason was granted his first shellfish lease in 2022 and immediately went to work to get Changing Tide Oyster Company off the ground. By the end of 2023, Changing Tide had sold over 350,000 oysters and catered hundreds of events, and that was just the beginning.​
